Revelations
  1. Whether you like hip-hop or not, Timbaland can REALLY cut some sick-ass tracks.  For proof, check out "Give it to Me", "The Way I Are", and "Time".  Trust me, you won't be able to stop your head from bobbing.
  2. Nothing makes you feel more alive than a 4.7 mile hike with 9 of your closest amigos. <33333
  3. Apple owns my soul.  iTunes/digital music is slowly filling up a hard drive that I never thought I'd be able to fill.
  4. I'm very worried right now about wrestling as a whole.  Vets are quitting, workers that were once considered the most solid in the business (workrate and otherwise) are going BATSHITLOCO, and 2007 has been one of THE worst years for wrestling deaths.  God help us all.
  5. I'm so happy about my favorite TV shows coming out on DVD.  Specifically, TMNT: the new series, Heroes, and House.
  6. I may not buy House: Season 3.  DVDs are all about the replay value and it was really really hard for me to get through last season.  They nearly ruined the most powerful relationship in the series with their need for angst and edginess and put all of us fans through the ringer.  I don't think I ever want to see House hit Wilson again, so...perhaps I'll stick my head in the sand like a good lil ostrich and House will miraculously jump from Season 2 to Season 4.
  7. I heart Hiro and Ando so much I can't stand it.
  8. Nathan Petrelli may be a jerk, but he's still pretty hot in his own way.
  9. Its hard sometimes to continue pushing on with a series after you start getting so emotionally invested in the characters.  You just want to put them in a pretty glass bottle where they can never get hurt!
  10. Cosplayers are HAWT!
  11. Fangirling is fun.  I love all of my capslockin', fearlessly squeein' fangirls out there.  *loves you all*
  12. Being cerebral is also fun.  Like conversations about the location of the consciousness in the brain and the mapping of the soul to certain lobes.  Awesome.
  13. Leo rules all.  Nuff said.  For evidence, see "The Shredder Strikes Back, Part 1" and "Return to New York, Part 3" on Youtube.
  14. This video owns my soul. Watch it.  Now.

  1. Normally I can’t work to music but listening to Sting turns me into a veritable monster of productivity.
  2. Most of the men that I find tremendously handsome are either in their forties with healthy/stable marriages and kids and pets or are getting there. Case in point: Shawn Michaels, Christopher Daniels, Bret Hart, Christian Cage, Mark Harmon, Sting and well, Sting (the singer).  Marty Jannetty also fits, but without the stable marriage and kids part. He’s got the pets part down, though.
  3. Gerard Butler is a walking streak of sex.
  4. I continue to find more and more fans of both Star Trek and Wrestling out there in the world, finding two in my office in one week alone. Despite our “underground” status, this fact makes me incredibly proud.
  5. E-Harmony is kinda cool but it requires more maintenance/upkeep than I expected.
  6. This year, the desire to meet my favorite sports celebrities has increased dramatically with the realization that it IS possible to meet them if the timing is right.
  7. Watching Dirk Nowitzki practice live before a game is more magical than I can ever hope to convey in language or pictures.
  8. Ironically, the more you love a sports team, their ability to upset you increases exponentially.
  9. I’ve discovered that it’s not where I live that matters, but whether or not my family or friends are close by that makes the difference.
  10. The same is true for jobs/classes: many times it’s not the job or the subject matter that makes or breaks it: it’s the atmosphere and the people, the teachers/bosses/instructors that will determine the success or failure of the venture.
  11. I think this will probably be the main determining factor for me from now on.
  12. Is this wisdom? Or merely the selfish desire to be close to the ones I love?
  13. I find that I miss being a good girlfriend to someone more than I miss being loved. As lovesick as I feel sometimes, it was the giving of affection that I treasured.  Knowing that I could give love to a special and amazing person.
  14. All this being said, even if I do end up all by me onesies forever, I’ve decided that that’s not so bad after all.
  15. Girl Scout cookies are the devil's foul temptation.  If the Fall of Men actually occured, the Devil would have shown up in a brown or green jumper wearing pigtail braids and holding a box of Samoa's or Thin Mint's.
  16. Whenever I worry about losing an excellent LJ post, it inevitably happens (like moments ago, for instance).
  17. I wish I knew how to comfort my friends and acquaintances better when times are horrendously tough.  I often find myself worrying over how appropriate and/or cliche most words of comfort feel and how inadequate I feel when they first spring to mind in the first moments of my sympathy/empathy.
  18. As an English Major, I find this utterly unacceptable.
  19. It is nearly impossible to get oneself to do something if one does not have a certain expectation of success at the completion of the venture.
  20. It's hilarious when you think a post is lost but it ends up being posted anyway. *facepalm*
  21. If I were to step foot on Irish soil at this moment, I would probably start crying tears of joy.  It's silly, I know, but that was one foreign country in which I felt completely whole and renewed just by breathing its air.
  22. Whenever I hear the version of "The Parting Glass" from Waking Ned Devine, I cannot stop myself from tearing up.  It's one of three or so songs that get me completely emotional no matter where I am.
  23. "All I Ask of You", "I Dreamed a Dream", and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" are the others.
  24. If I could bring back two celebrities that I loved who were taken before their time, I'd bring back Jeremy Brett and Owen Hart.  They've been very much on my mind these days.
phoenixastraea: (Oh sweet lord...)
  1. If the teacher of a tech class gives you an option to write down your suggestions/issues with a particular piece of software so that she can pass them on to the developers and you refuse out of stubbornness/idiocy, then you no longer have any excuse to complain.  So STFU and GBTW.
  2. Few things piss me off more than watching my favorite basketball team lose.   Especially not to overrated Tim Duncan and the Spurs.
  3. Blueberry muffins are the devils plaything.  Seriously, I've been trying to eat better and then I see that fluffy, blueberry goodness and I fall from grace.
  4. I feel terribly hypocritical that I really really hate it when people use drugs when I have no problems going out to a bar with my friends and getting hammered.
  5. I'm proud of my interests.  I'm proud that I've finally gotten to the stage in my life where I can be my geeky self and my geeky friends still love me.
  6. The Nightmare Before Christmas is still the greatest movie of all time, right up there with The Princess Bride and Ladyhawke.
  7. I have thought about using this LJ as  Post Secret of sorts about myself...but then they wouldn't be secrets!
  8. I have fantasies about putting my coworkers in catapults and firing.
  9. Dirk Nowitzki is still the man.
  10. So is Steve Nash.
  11. My grandparents don't realize that the more they bitch at me to change jobs, the less inclined I am to oblige them.
  12. I wish my career dreams would come back to me; I honestly have no idea what I want to do with my life and it terrifies me.
  13. I have no idea how I can make the money I want without selling my soul in the process.
  14. I really really love walking to angry music.  I feel like I own the world.
  15. I have contemplated getting a tattoo, but I worry that once I get it, I'll be over it.
  16. Life is too short not to tell the people that you love that you care about them.
  17. I love you.
  18. I would give anything to see Marty Jannetty back on TV.
  19. The holds that men get into in UFC are SO much slashier than wrestling.
  20. Denny Crane.
phoenixastraea: (Spock Shirtless! *Faints*)
  1. Curling has GOT to be the most idiotic sport in existence.  Seriously.  I just want to take a Zamboni machine out there and run everyone over.
  2. SHIELD should stop 'confining' or 'medicating' Bruce Banner; if he's really this much of a liability to the state and getting miffed is the only line between life and death, he should just be shot.
  3. Even as an inch tall miniature, Wolverine is one hot character.
  4. No matter how many times you give people directions to do this or that, they will come ask you anyway 5 mins later.  So don't even bother; it will just get you annoyed as the work day progresses.
  5. Life's too short for me to be this angry.
  6. Leonard Nimoy is a cool cat at ANY age.  So is Shatner.  The world needs to follow their examples.
  7. I still REALLY miss Deforest Kelley.
  8. ADHD increases in direct relation with your level of schooling.  I'm in FUCKING graduate school and I'm procrastinating WORSE than ever.
  9. I have an interview tomorrow for a job.  Do I feel prepared? Not really.  Am I terrified about this? Absolutely. Somehow three classes worth of educational work will prepare me for interview questions like, "How will you account for the affective domain in your classroom?" and "How will you deal with behavior management in your class?"
  10. I am so screwed.
  11. Ultimate Avengers was a pretty f*cking awesome movie.
  12. I shouldn't cuss as much.  Not that I care how 'lady-like' I am, but it must sound pretty ugly to other people.
  13. I'm looking at my undergraduate transcript right now and I'm embarrassed. Mono or not, I did NOT get my shit together like I wanted to or even HAD in high school. Damn.
  14. Am I masochistic?  I think so.
  15. Why?
  16. I have 3 months to write my thesis.  I don't even have a topic yet, really.
  17. ....
  18. Denny Crane.
  19. I need to write a book about random shit that you hear when you randomly pass by a conversation.  Ex: "...And then the holy spirit said to me..."; "The first 48 hours are a bitch..." and "If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have had that year in college..." (props to Lewis Black for the last one.  The first two I have heard.)
  20. There is seriously something wrong when you stand to risk losing your friends because you have too much work and no time to hang.
  21. I need to find religion again.  I'd probably be a lot happier if my faith would come back. Even if it is just an 'opiate for the masses', I could use one of those right now.  Stupid science explaining everything.
  22. We could sure use a miracle right now.
  23. We could sure use Captain America right now.
  24. I could sure use a glass of wine right now.
  25. Wait a minute....
