OK, so I know this is the moment you geeks have all been waiting for....That's right...the moment where I get to give you pictorial evidence of the excellence of my pilgrimage to Chicago to meet two of my heros.
So come on, my pretties!! Let's Geek out!
So come on, my pretties!! Let's Geek out!
So, Paul, David, Glenn and I started off our trip just swell, leaving the airport with little or no hassle, despite the new security requirements. We were on our way, as evidenced in Paul's reaction here.

Little did we know that we would be feeling like the guy behind him soon enough, as our plane from Detroit to Chicago was delayed on the runway for an hour and a half. So, we ended up feeling more like this:

Yes, that is the ugliest picture of me you will ever see. At any rate, we finally made it to the sanctity of our hotel and got a chance to relax a bit.
The first day we were there, we decided to pay a visit to his Royal Airness out at the United Center, the holiest of grounds for basketball fans like us.

Absolute glory. Somehow the genius of a sculptor was able to embody every chump that Jordan ever slammed on in that one figure beneath him. I took a ton of pics of this statue, which had an obscene number of awesome stats around all four sides. I may add more later, but for now, this pretty much encompasses the supreme excellence of that moment.

The elevated trains were fun....to sleep on! My own metro system has me spoiled...we really waited a long time between trains.
We had lots of fun times in the city, walking around the Lake and eating waaay too much good Italian food...with real Italian waiters!!

The boys along the river. I'm so damn happy I caught this picture.
At any rate, the next day we had our big moment where we got to have our picture taken with The Shat and The Nimoy. It really took all of my resolve to contain my fangirl delight at being able to stand next to those two. The four of us dressed up to the nines. Of course, we had our fun with the camera after paying a visit to the vendors tables. The results are as follows...
Yes. That's right; he's about to phaser his crotch. Good times! Next, the boys got in their suits and showed the Trekkies how to dress for a convention.

Yeah, just call them 'Starfleet Secret Service'. It was strange, but I think the four of us garnered more attention being dressed in formal wear than any of the other Trekkies dressed up as Starfleet officers, Andorians, etc. Strangely enough, there was not a single Klingon in attendance! They must have known Kirk was going to be there....

Yep, that's me showing off my sexy tricorder and the 40th anniversary edition of the phaser. Sweet.
So...we went down, played the "Wait in Line" game until we were ushered into the room where they were waiting. I really couldn't believe it. There they were, just regular guys but somehow larger than life. They both looked very handsome and more than a little shell shocked, due to the travel and the massive amounts of people that were waiting to have their picture taken with them. When we walked up, I definitely thought we made an impression on them. Not to sound egotistical, but I got a really large, geniune smile from Bill as we walked up. I gave him a huge grin back and before we knew it, it was over and we were back in our hotel rooms, stunned and star struck by our fortune. Unfortunately, I've got to wait two weeks before I can have our photo sent to us, but we'll see how it turned out.
A few hours later, we were to go downstairs to the main room and listen to Nimoy, Shatner, and then the two of them give presentations. They started out with Nimoy first and boy howdy was I on my feet in a hurry.

Yeah. Oh my God.

This picture can not accurately show how this man's smile can light up a room. Seriously, he's working like 10,000 watts there.

Yeah, I was so four rows away. Unfortunately, the lighting was such that it was hard for me to adjust my camera to compensate. After Lenny spoke, then it was Bill's turn. Boy, was that man energetic.

Oh man, such a dynamo. He definitely walked up and down the stage, so full of life and energy and fun!

Denny Crane, bitches!!
So their respective talks were fabulous and when they got together on stage, it was sheer magic.

Beautiful stuff. The usual question and answer session followed and after that, the toast. I'll try to upload some video here, but when we toasted to the future, I really felt like I was part of something grand, something eternal.
So, I'll add more details later, but for now, enjoy the pictures. It really was an incredible adventure.
