Boiling in More Ways than One...

Ok, so I have about 9 minutes to compose this and finish eating my lunch because I just posted a bunch of shit to Craigs List and Roommates.com advertising my place.  I'm not terribly thrilled with my leasing complex becuase I FINALLY get in touch with them today and they tell me that this dude from Canada who was supposed to take over my place hasn't been in touch with them.  So...I'm back to square one AND I owe August rent.  Can I tell you how thrilled I am about that?  Yeah, as if it wasn't hot enough in this burg, I've got to get steamed over this grand waste of time, effort, and money.  Hopefully if I start calling them once a week they'll get off their ass.  Keep me in your thoughts on this.  

I also just found out on MSN.com that Heath Ledger is going to play the Joker in the next Batman. 

Gay cowboy? Definitely.  The Joker? Not on your fucking life.  

Don't get me wrong, he was a brilliant Ennis Del Mar and definitely has some great acting chops.  That being said, I suppose I should reserve my judgment.  Even so, I don't see him as the Joker.  Then again, I have the same problem with Joker as I had with Superman; IMHO, no one (and I really mean NO ONE) will be able to top Nicholson's performance.  Seriously.  Either way, it looks like he's been cast.  

This casting is also somewhat ironic considering the rumors I heard flying around about Jake Gyllenhaal playing Harvey Dent.  WTF would that be like? 

"Brokeback Arkham"??!  Nolan, I swear to god...

Brokeback Arkham! *cracks up* Oh my God... Honestly, I will reserve judgement until I see what they do with it. I wasn't all that excited about Superman Returns, and then I saw how wonderful it was. So you never know. :)

And I will keep you in my prayers about the stress that is moving and trying to get the hell out of your current place. O_O

Oh and something else that occurred to me! The only thing I'd ever seen Christian Bale in before Batman Begins was Velvet Goldmine... where he had butt-sex with Ewan McGregor. It was attractive and everything, but I never saw him as Batman. And yet, he was perfect. So you never know. :D

Yeah, you're definitely right about Superman. Nolan did such a great job with the first one, its hard not to have faith in him for Round Two aka The Dark Knight (kind of a blah title...well, considering I was hoping for "The Long Halloween"...).

I'd have loved to have seen a Long Halloween movie. Although, seeing how they handled the Roman in Batman Begins, I seriously doubted that would happen. Begins should have been Year One. No need to have Scarecrow or Ras (oh, wait... to sell toys). This should be The Long Halloween.

BUT! I'll give Nolan and crew the benefit of the doubt. This Joker will probably be radically different than Nicholson's take.

Ever since I heard mutterings of having Harvey Dent in the sequel, I was dying for them to make a "Long Halloween" movie. Yes, they seemingly took Carmine Falcone out of the picture, it would be very simple to set the movie sometime in the near future where Milos Grappa and the rest of his mafia have rescued him after having found him wandering around the narrows yaddayaddayadda and nursed him back to health. I'd just love to see Tom Wilkinson play him again. Long Halloween would also be an easy way to introduce a slew of Rogue's Gallery members (also for Toy Sales).

I will also give Nolan the benefit of the doubt. Being that this Joker will go in a totally different direction, its not like they're attempting to reproduce Nicholson's greatness or genius. Although, I wish he was just a little younger because Nicholson has been quoted as saying that the Joker is the only role he'd do again if asked.

I'll check out the mp3 when I get home; I'm sure its heinous.

Maybe they figured that was the case and thought that it didn't really matter who they cast because no one could outdo him? I dunno.

Yeah, its an odd choice. They've got to be thinking of doing something OUTRAGEOUS with his makeup and hair. I dunno...I'd be interested to see his audition...it must have been excellent!
