Happy New Year

Alriiiight! Brand New Year, brand new icon, brand new set of cool things to do before the year is over. It feels really good to be back. It was a great break filled with needed rest, relaxation, and revelry. Right now, Im watching Exosquad, a REALLY kick-ass animated series from the early 90's. Man, I miss the days of hard-hitting animation, like Exosquad, The Real Ghostbusters, X-Men, and Batman: TAS. These series were intelligently written, wrote on valid social and cultural issues, were witty in a high-minded sense, and didn't shy away from making hard decisions, like killing off characters in the show.
As for RGB, I'm STILL waiting for an official DVD release. I may have to settle for well-done bootlegs.
In better news, I heard that ST the Animated Series is due on DVD in mid 2006. Awesome. Another jewel for my collection.
While I'm on a DVD kick, I was also thrilled to see that Seaquest DSV came out on DVD. Contrary to a lot of critical backlash, I actually really liked the series and wished that it could have been retooled so that it could have really gotten off the ground. They REALLY made some bad decisions when they redid the series as "Seaquest: 2032". Michael Ironside wasn't a good replacement for Roy Scheider, a personal favorite of mine who was perfect as Captain Bridger. The original cast was fine, with good characters and great actors like Ted Raimi, Stephanie Beacham, and one of my favorites, Jonathan Brandis as child genius Lucas wolencjek. MAN what a loss he was. I still mourn his suicide.
So, when I get more cashola in the bank, it looks like I need to make a trip to Best Buy...
